RLS and Pregnancy
Women who get leg syndrome while pregnant typically have the normal RLS symptoms: tingling in the legs, the need to move their legs, a burning and/or a creeping feeling. Doctors say RLS during pregnancy is typically linked to genetics and/or an iron deficiency. An iron deficiency is not all that uncommon among pregnant women but the exact cause of restless leg syndrome is still unknown.
If you have RLS and are pregnant you normally won't see RLS symptomes until at least the 3rd month of pregnancy.
The good news!
Women who get RLS during pregnancy will normally stop experiencing RLS symptoms a few weeks after your baby is born.
How to treat RLS during pregnancy?
You should only Treat RLS during pregnancy under the close supervision of you doctor; normally he or she will have you change your diet take supplements and try to help you improve your overall sleep quality. Although getting a restful nights sleep can be hard enough just being pregnant, let alone having RLS.
Many Physicians will also proscribe a moderate exercise routine which has been known to help with restless leg syndrome during pregnancy but again and we can’t stress this enough you need to see your doctor before starting and treatments of exercise programs of any kind.
